Sue is a trustee of the Chartwell trust which has the Chartwell Collection on long term loan at the Auckland Art Gallery. She is on the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation Board, the Creative Thinking Board at the University of Auckland, and the board of Artspace Aotearoa. Sue has written and lectured about art for more than 25 years and travels widely taking small group art tours to international destinations.

She is the co-founder of Save Our Gallery – the public campaign to raise awareness of funding cuts by Auckland Council to the 125 year old Auckland Art Gallery. This is the subject of her talk – as Sue gives a background to the history of public galleries, the founding gifts to the Auckland Art Gallery and the continued need for public galleries for the future. She will outline the current funding crisis and the rationale behind the successful public campaign.
