Rotary is a 'grass roots' organisation.  It is where Rotary’s humanitarian work begins. Rotary is all about people and all we do comes from the interactions and friendships gained from the many opportunities Rotarians have to gather together.

St Johns Rotary has weekly meetings as detail under the 'About us - Meeting & location' tabs.  At our weekly meetings, members not only catch up with friends and hear what’s happening in our communities, but also exchange ideas for creating positive change. Once a month the various club committees also get together to specifically plan projects and review progress of those currently under way.

As we implement our projects we are in constant contact with others in the community and seek their contributions to the club's activity in the community.  As the club meetings, the projects and socials are all open for family and friends to participate their ideas and comment is also very welcome.

The club sends any member who would like to attend along to the bi-annual Rotary Leadership Institute weekend where they can learn all about the breadth of Rotary, so they can enjoy their membership and be as involved through Rotary in their club and their community as they would like, plus they learn how to lead in the volunteer environment.  Additionally, there are many other learning opportunities in Rotary.

Rotary is far more than just what happens at club level with every Rotarian able to become involved beyond the club.  There are many opportunities to meet others and exchange ideas and develop friendships and acquaintances at district events such as district conference or volunteer to join a project in the Pacific to name a few. The global Rotary network makes it possible for members to connect with business, professional, and community leaders anywhere in the world. Rotarians can experience a new culture, use their professional skills for a good cause, or simply share a hobby. There is also events such as Rotary’s annual convention, where Rotarians from around the world come together for inspiration, education, and fun.
