Co-Presidents St. Johns Rotary, Penny McGarry (Ph: 021 702 310), and Lesley Harris (Ph: 027 4935 498)
"BINGO" was the call that rang out twice, as Angus expertly called the numbers (with his own descriptive and not always PC 'quips' describing said numbers!). Well done Angus for stepping up to be Sergeant of the day with a difference!.
Beryl and Lesley held the winning cards in our two games. Graham F donated a magnificent hamper to raffle which was won by Michele F - a great beneficiary.
We welcomed partners and a guest Sarah from Texas who is a friend of Sue Smith.
We also reflected on the passing of David Hodge and member Jan Hogg whom we honoured with a minute's silence.
On a brighter note Gary told of Oscar's award, we are very proud of you Oscar,
The fish, chips and salad dinner was superb and enjoyed by all as was the dessert and coffee.
For those who remember David Hodge, we have been advised by HM Peter Boshier, that David recently passed away.
Although not a member of the Club, he was very much part of the major programme, Tamaki Pathways Trust. He was also the Principal of Tamaki College.
Peter describes him as "Responsive and responsible to all of those around him. A strong and courageous leader. A person we looked up to and wanted to know".

Directors Reports:
Gary:
Gary reminded members that the Club Assembly will be held on May 26th - An opportunity for our Co-President Elects to share their plans for the coming year.
At the Assembly, we also need to film members singing the Club's "Anthem" to be shown at the upcoming District Conference. A good turnout would be appreciated - a prize of $1,000 is sitting waiting for us to collect!
Peter B:
Peter, Gary and Kevin meet earlier in the week with other interested parties to further progress discussions on how St. Johns can continue to support the work being conducted at Apirana Reserve.
Guest Speaker:
No guest speaker at this meeting which was billed as a fellowship night as detailed in the Presidents Pen column above. Although attendee numbers were less than had been hoped, those in attendance enjoyed a very pleasant night of food and Bingo.
MONDAY MAY 9th - ANNUAL DEBATE WITH AUCKLAND EAST ROTARY:

All RC St Johns members are cordially invited to attend Auckland East's Monday evening meeting to support our team and (of course) enjoy the hospitality of RC Auckland East. Our own Thursday meeting will be cancelled for this week, to encourage great attendance on the Monday evening at RC Auckland East, 5 Knots, Tamaki Yacht Club, 30 Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay.
