Happy Days Everyone

I hope you have all been able to enjoy the ‘ease’ of social distancing restrictions now that we are at Level 2 life.  Perhaps it was just a quiet coffee made by someone else; or a careful shopping browse; or best of all a meet up with family and hugs, lots of hugs!

Sadly, still no firm date to share with you all for when we can meet (physically) again as a club. PP Allan and I are in close contact with Grant at Remuera Golf Club. They are of course, keen to see us meeting on the premises again, but we have to be patient and wait until that limit on numbers is raised.

Thank you to members who joined in for last week’s evening zoom meet. We had a great combined turnout of members and visitors and the RYPEN leadership team’s enthusiasm was palpable.  Big thanks to HM & PP Ainie for organising this team to present. The meeting was recorded and will be uploaded to You Tube. I will supply a link for this as soon as I can.

This week we return to our morning 8:00 am time-frame for an in-house Project Reboot meeting. When we move into Level 1, as a club we want to ensure we ‘hit the ground running’ and get cracking on projects that our community needs. An example of this is of course the Foodbank collection which we are lining up to action as soon as Level 1 allows. However, if you are aware of any individual or community group who would benefit from our club's assistance – this meeting is the opportunity to let us know.

President Elect Hugh and I look forward to engaging across committees in readiness for action on projects and the best options to support Club and Community Champions to make things happen.

See you all on Thursday morning.
Warm regards

Robyn

Meeting in Review - May 14th 2020
An excellent Turnout for our first Zoom "Evening" Meeting, with 42 members and guests participating.

Following a welcome by President Robyn and also DG Gary who was also present, the meeting was handed over to HM and PP Ainie to introduce the 2020 District 9920 RYPEN Team Leaders.  This team went above and beyond to ensure that not all was lost due to Level 4 being introduced just days before  Camp RYPEN was scheduled to be held.

The 4 Team Leaders; Grace, Claire, Gabe and Henry, all amazing young adults and past District 9920 RYLA Awardees, put together a "Virtual RYPEN", consisting of a range of excellent speakers and other Leadership Programmes.  The talk took the meeting along the road of how they designed and wrote the programme.

There has been excellent feedback from participating students and the Rotary Community at large.  District will continue to work with Ainie and this group looking for opportunities to take Virtual RYPEN to the next level and integrate parts of the programme into the face to face camps held each year.  Peter Ross, Mr RYLA, also a guest on the night, is now also looking to see if parts of the concept, can be built in to future RYLA camps as well.

Well done Ainie and thanks for keeping St Johns Rotary in the limelight, even though you have moved Districts!!

THURSDAY MAY 21st:
This week we return to our morning 8:00 am time-frame, for our "Zoom Meeting", for an in-house Project Reboot meeting.  As President Robyn has advised above, when we move into Level 1, we want to ensure we "hit the ground running" and get moving on projects that we were discussing prior to Lockdown, and of course your Board will welcome ideas of any and all project opportunities that can be considered – this meeting is the opportunity to share your thoughts.

FRIDAY JUNE 26th CHANGEOVER:

Lockdown Project
There's no doubt about it - we have some very skilled individuals in our club.

You may recall in the early days of the lockdown we asked members to share with us projects they were doing in lockdown and one of the contributors was Aubrey who was building a new deck.

The photo above is of the early prep work and and the two photos below show the finished product.

Great job Aubrey - we are sure that you will get plenty of use out of this!!

Do any other members have pictures of lockdown projects that they would like to share?
May Environmental Challenge
Only two more weeks to complete this challenge;

We don't want our beaches looking like this!!!

Time for a Smile!

Have a wonderful week with many *smiles*.  Enjoy your Level 2 freedom - you've earned it!
