I am saddened to advise that this morning we agreed to suspend our regular Thursday meetings.

This decision has been made as a socially responsible reaction to the Covid-19 crisis and was made after consultation with the Board, and following discussion with members present at this morning’s meeting.  As a club we do not wish to put any of our membership at risk and already a number of members are absenting themselves from social interaction on the advice of health professionals or at the request of employers.

A number of other clubs in our District have also suspended their meeting programmes and more are expected to follow.  Our District has also cancelled District Conference, RYLA, RYPEN, and Clubs are deferring many planned events.

At this stage we have agreed that our Club’s regular meetings could potentially resume from Thursday 16 April.  The Board will review this date and keep our membership informed should this need to be changed.  This interruption will affect our future project plans which will all be reviewed as necessary.

As feasible, we will be reaching out to our community contacts to offer what assistance we can.  If you become aware of a group, individual or neighbour who could do with assistance (e.g. for grocery pick-up and delivery) please help – or contact our Club.

Members who would still like to meet informally are invited to try doing so at the Remuera Golf Club café (Winstone’s) at 7:00am on Thursday mornings, as usual.  Grant has advised Remuera Golf Club are putting additional hygiene measures in place at Winstone’s but are closing off our normal meeting venue (the Tui Lounge).  All members are strongly encouraged to utilise social interaction precautions as promoted to by the Ministry of Health.

We have also asked our Board Directors to ‘check-in’ on a regular basis with their committee members.  Club information and notices will be sent to members by email and via our weekly Bulletin and we encourage members to stay in-touch with each other.

For any inquiries about club meetings or for anyone requiring assistance - please do not hesitate to contact any of your fellow club members.

The Board extends our best wishes for the health and safety of our Rotary families.

Yours in Rotary
