Exploring the 'Shadow City'
Jun 02, 2022 6:00 PM
Exploring the 'Shadow City': new archaeological discoveries made during the work Kainga Ora have undertaken recently and how this adds to our understanding of the history of the wider area. Dr Hans-Dieter Bader I work as a consultant throughout New Zealand, together with Dr Janice Adamson through Archaeology Solutions Ltd. I am mainly a field archaeologist doing the regulatory work, exploration, excavation and GIS and feature / find analysis. Understanding the ancient landscape, how people reacted and lived within, changed their environment, or got changed by their environment are my main interests. Using remote sensing methods and bringing all data together in a GIS is essential for landscape archaeology. I’m coming from Southwest Germany and since childhood I was interested in archaeology and history of the area I grew up in. Becoming an archaeologist progressed naturally from this early interest. The interest in using modern survey technology stemmed from a few years serving in the German army between high school and university. My first professional excavation was in 1984 and I have been working in Aotearoa since 1994. |

Wayne's Vision for Auckland
Sep 22, 2022 7:00 AM
Wayne is a passionate Kiwi who wants to see communities across our biggest city thrive and prosper. He cares what happens with your hard-earned rates and it frustrates him to see them wasted. He will be relentless in delivering results that will actually have an impact for Aucklanders. An engineer by training, Brown is a property developer. He has served as a director of many New Zealand organisations, both public and private. These include TVNZ, Maori TV, Transpower, Vector Ltd, and was chair of the Land Transport Safety Authority. In the 2000s he chaired the Government-owned telecommunications firm Kordia. And in 2019, he led a review for the New Zealand Government which recommended shifting the Port of Auckland to the country's north. Proven track record Long experience in fixing big troubled, complex organisations, including:
Policies that will make a difference Practical and sensible policies will see costs brought under control, capital spent wisely on the right things and see Council focus and deliver its core services efficiently. This will make Auckland a better place to live and ratepayers finally seeing value for what they pay. Let’s fix Auckland, together! 1. Fix our Infrastructure 2. Stop Wasting Money 3. Take Back Control of Council Organisations 4. Get Auckland Moving Faster 5. Make the Most of our Harbour and Environment |
